My 26th Year. A Review.

Saturday, I’m officially 27. The age my parents met and married. The age I always assumed would be the one that I had my ducks in a row & would officially be a grown up. We’ll see if that’s how I feel at the end of the year. Or even if that’s how I want to feel.

Before moving forward, I wanted to pick out some top memories from my 26th year. It was a year of change, a year of adventure and great fun.

Running away to a cabin with C in the woods. We needed this weekend & is still something we dream of returning back to. Somewhere in this past year, we also celebrated 10 years of being a couple by seeing our dream band – Brand New – play at Stubbs.

Chicago

This year I travelled to three amazing places, all with different people and for different purposes. Seattle was a fun family adventure. Chicago was a business trip, turned super awesome friends trip with Heather. And Mexico City was a 10 day separation from everything I know with people I hold the most dear in the world.

While Fueled by Cocktails was put on hold, I did manage to work one super fun 90’s theme bachelorette party. I’m still proud of this & can’t wait to pick that side gig back up.

I kicked some serious ass in the web design world this past year. My career went from amateur to professional, through some very hard work & determination. The project I’m most proud of this year was the Transform website for the College of Education at Texas A&M. I still check in on that baby every now & then to make sure she’s being taken care of. And because of my hard work, I ended up landing a job in Austin – so we packed up our family & moved 100 miles to the heart of Texas.

Moving to Austin afforded me some great experiences, from food to seeing amazing local entertainment. My favorite experience so far in Austin has been attending SXSW. That was a game changer. I’ve also learned to embrace the outdoors and have started down a hiking journey. I’m curious to see where that leads.

gradschool

And finally, the thing I’m most proud of this year… I was accepted into grad school & began in May. I’m so excited to see where this two year program takes me. It’s what is guiding my every move right now, and I couldn’t be more hopeful for the outcome.

Cheers to 27! I can’t wait to see what happens.
