This weekend, I’m testing out a whole bunch of rum drinks for Fueled by Cocktails. Rum is the spirit I probably know least about. I’m not really a fan of sweet, fruity cocktails & it’s hard to get past those… or at least it has been until now. I’m going to test my senses and push the boundaries on my skills.
In the meantime, I’m browsing for inspiration….
After Dark Digestif from Honestly Yum
Orange Bitters & Walnut Liqueur. Side of chocolate. Yes please.
Blueberry Lemon & Honey Rum Cocktail from The Peppermint Pencil
Blueberries and honey are two of my favorite flavors. And the lemon makes it tart. Think I’ll be sipping this as soon as it hits 100.
Sparkling Pineapple Rum from Pastry Affair
Ginger ale with pineapple? I’ve never done that & now I’m dying to try it. Plus her writing is amazing.
Blood Orange Rum Cocktail from One Martini
Bitters & blood orange are the way to quickly hit my heart.
Hot Buttered Rum from Not Without Salt
(I’ve never had buttered rum. There I said it.)
I’m excited to get some new cocktails a try! Be on the lookout over at Fueled by Cocktails for them ā„
Funny story about rum: In 2003 I went to the Dominican Republic to whitewater kayak for 10 days in the mountains. At that time (and maybe it's still like this today) the interior of the country was not developed for tourism. The small town that we were staying in had one restaurant that we went to every night for dinner. I always ordered the same drink: rum with orange juice. I could never figure out why it took a 1/2 hour to get my drink until one night I peeked into the kitchen on my way to the bathroom. There stood a guy hand-squeezing oranges into my drink glass!
oh my goodness! that is hilarious & so completely nice of him. what a story.
My favorite drink is pineapple & rum always š
